Old Wood textures

OPQ Products Catalog: Textures: Wood textures: Bark

Old Wood Textures

Rey's Driftwood 01-03

Three very different textures, one of them in two different colors. Despite the name, these textures are not only suitable for driftwood but also for other occasions where you need an old, worn wood look.

Battered old wood textures - Rey's Old Wood 04

Nine different shades, seamless/tileable, 512x512 resolution.

Battered old wood textures - Rey's Old Wood 05

A set of five really battered wood textures.

The textures are seamless but please note that there are limits to how tileable textures as rich in details as these can be. Up to two full repeats should work well but beyond that the repeeats of all those lovely details may become annoying If you are looking for a truly tileable old wood texture, we recommend Rey's Driftwood or Rey' Old Wood 04 instead.

Concrete siding textures

Concrete Siding Textures

Concrete slab siding - Rey's Concrete Panels 01

Perfect for a modern store or public building! Two layers of panels with or without shaded top and/or bottom. Normal and specular maps include.

Stone or cement bricks/blocks - Rey's Stone Bricks 01A

This texture was made as an experiment and usually we don't recommend this many stones (24 layers with 12 stones/blocks each) in a texture like this, better to focus on a few ones and use inworld repeats. But it turned out so well and the subtle color nuances across the texture are so lovely, we couldn't resist it.

Normal and specular maps included and the texture is seamless of course.

Food textures

Food Textures

Rey's Chocolate Cookies 01

These texture are made to work on regular prims (sphere cut in half with pathcut) but it's of course possible to make meshes for them too.

Dark milk chocolate textures - Rey's Chocolate Bar

Who can resist it? ^_^

Fence and Railing textures

OPQ Products Catalog: Textures: Fence and Railing Textures

Fence and Railing Textures

Ornamental metal fence textures - Rey's Cemetary Fence 01-02

Four different ornamental fence/railing designs, each in three different colors, golden/brass, tarnished and dark/aged. The textures are in 512x512 resolution. Normally that is too high for railing textures but these deserve it. They are so lovely and detailed they can be mistaken for laggy mesh railings even at close range.

Amazingly, as realistic as these texture look, they are actually synthetic ones, based on two standard Filter Forge filters. Unlike most texture merchants we don't normally sell straight FF textures as our own (unless we also made the filter itself) but in this case they were too good to ignore so we amd e a compromise: two of the designs are straight out of Filter Forge and you may well find very similar ones from other texture brands (although we haven't actually seen any), the other two are modified and unique to OPQ/Rey's Textures.

Low lag chicken wire texture - Rey's Chainlink 01A

A single "frame" of chainlink (or chicken wire as the Americans call it). It doesn't need to be more than that and it saves us a bit of texture loads compared to traditional textures with dozens of built-in repeats.

Two different resolutions, the recommended 64x64 an d a high resolution 256x256 with normal and pescular map for those who really want all those extra details in the wire texturing.

Ornamental railing/iron fence textures - Rey's low lag railing

At OPQ we call ourselves lag fighters and we have to live up to that claim!

These nine textures have been reduced down to the resolution they need to have to work as general purpose metal railing textures. Nothing more and nothing less.

Bark textures

OPQ Products Catalog: Textures: Wood textures: Bark

Bark Textures

Rey's Brown Bark 01

Four different shades, 512x512 resolution.

The textures are seamless and tileable but not really recommended for long unbroken surfaces. They work very well for trees where the bark surfce is intercepted by foliage and also for firewood and other small pieces of log wood. It's not that suitable for long, bare logs though. A texture as rich as these will always have prominent details (called artifacts) that stand out when repeated too much. The only way to avoid that, is to make the texture blander and we don't want that - not in this case at least.

Brick textures

OPQ Products Catalog: Textures: Brick Textures

Brick Textures

Modern brick wall texture - Rey's Brick Wall 01

Seven variants, plain and with six different top and/or bottom shadings. The plain one tiles very well both vertically and horizontally, the shaded ones only horizontally.

For those who are into the finer details of bricklaying, this texture has a rather unusual bond (that is the pattern of bricks). Each layer has a fairly standard two-whole-and-one-half-brick pattern but there is no pattern at all between the layers. The most likely explanation is that the brick layer (or the architect) was in a bit of an artistic mood. It does look cool and doesn't affect the stability of the wall in anyway, so why not? (And no, this is not us messing up the texture, it's based on two pictures of an actual Norwegian RL brickwall that was laid this way. We have seen it used for other fairly recent Scandinavian walls too so it may be a modern fashion in Scandinavia.)

Modern brick wall texture - Rey's Brick Wall 01T

This variant of the Brick Wall 01 is 50% taller than the regular set. For the plain textures it doesn't really matter much which you choose since they are tileable vertically. The shaded ones are not, though and the Brick Wall 01T set offers you an option to have that feature for taller walls too.

Where to find Rey's Textures

Rey's Textures are available in Second Life, on TAG and on Kitely/the hypergrid:

End user license

Rey's Textures are sold full perm but we trust our customer to respect out intellectual rights.

What you CAN do with Rey's Textures and other textures by OPQ:

  • Use the texture modified or unmodified for your own items on the grid where you purchased it. (In this context the hypergrid is regarded as a single grid.)
  • Use the texture for items you sell or give away on the grid where you purchased it.
  • Download the texture to your own computer to modify it.
  • Distribute the texture as part of a texture changing device on the grid where you purchased it provided you take the necessary precautions to protect it from unauthorized copying:
    • If the texture changer script requires the texture to be included, change the texture permissions to either no copy or no transfer before you distribute it.
    • If the texture changer script uses UUIDs, they must be stored in a no-modify script, not in a modifiable script or a notecard.

What you CAN NOT do with Rey's Textures and other textures by OPQ:

  • Sell or give away the textures as textures only.
  • Use them in any way outside the grid where you purchased them. (In this context the hypergrid is regarded as a single grid.)
There is one exception. Textures uploaded to Second Life by StormKB Resident or to the hypergrid by Storm Juel @ OSGrid are not original OPQ works but open source assets from various sources. We do not claim any rights whatsoever to these textures. If the original creator has put any restrictions on their use, the license they are released under is quoted in the texture's description field.

Colorado Spruce

Catalog: Garden and Landscape: Plants: Trees: Colorado Spruce (Picea pungens)

Blue spruce or Colorado spruce (Picea pungens)

The blue spruce, aka white spruce, green spruce, Colorado spruce and Colorado blue spruce, is native to USA and Canada from New Mexico in the south to Alberta and British Colombia in the north. It's dense foliage has made it popular as an ornamental tree all over the world and as a Christmas tree.

In the wild, the blue spruce can grow up to 23 m tall, as an ornamental tree it rarely exceeds 15 m.

OPQ Colorado Spruce 01

Based on a texture by JubJub Forder. This is a fairly small tree with a dark green color. We only use our simplest mesh shapes for this model. The texture is so good it doesn't need very complex geometry.

OPQ Quality and Originality Statement

OPQ Quality and Originality

OPQ Quality

All OPQ products, including Chin Rey Houses, Bel's Scripts and Rey's textures are optimized for the best visual appearance/functionality with the lowest possible lag. OPQ is the only maker of low lag plants for Second Life and our other products are all made to the same standard as the plants. Mistakes do happen though and if you don't feel what you bought meets our standards, please let us know.

That being said, please note:
  • There is a difference between upfront feature items and background/filler items. Feature items need more details and even we can't make them as low lag as our background items. Background items on the other hand, will always be less detailed to reduce lag and land impact. Sometimes items work well in both roles but usually they don't and one of the most important secrets to a pleasant lag free Second Life is to know what kind to use for which purpose.
  • Most of our textures come both in a sensible and a high resolution version. We do not recommend high resolution textures except for some very special cases but we leave the decision to you.

OPQ Originality

Design

Unless otherwise stated, all OPQ products are the original creation of ChinRey Resident (aka RenateIsabella, LynxF, TessJL, Jazz021 and StormKB) or one of our junior builders, Sila Tanto and Lorne Claven.

The exceptions are some reproductions of RL objects and upgrades of older public domain SL builds where sticking as close as possible tot he original look is an impoprtant point in itself.

Mesh

Currently all OPQ meshes are created by ChinRey Resident. This is not because we are too "proud" to use full perm meshes, it's just that we haven't found anybody else who are able to deliver the quality we require.

We may change this in the future if/when we launch a range of fitted mesh clothes.

Prims

We use prims whenever they are a better option than mesh. All our prim builds are of course created by ChinRey Resident (sometimes under another alt name).

Sculpts

Sculpts have very limited use in SL today but there are a few builds where they still are the best option. On the few occasions we sell sculpts, it's usually with sculpt maps created by ChinRey Resident but we do use a few full perm sculpt maps by three other sculpt masters, Cordts Baxton, Silk Aeon and Florinda Baxton.

Textures

Textures sold under the Rey's Textures brands are all original creations although they can be based on public domain textures by others. Sometimes we include a copy of the original in the package as a bonus.

Textures we give away for free may be original or certified public domain ones.

Textures used for our builds may be original, public domain or bought full perm from various SL texture artists. We use whatever is most suitable for each build.

Script

All scripts distributed under the Bel's brand are original creations. This includes scripts we sell, scripts we give away and scripts we make on commission for other content creators.

We sometimes give away for free open source scripts. These do not use the Bel's brand name and are not created by us. (The MBAGR object resizer is a special case here. It was upgraded by Bel but the core of it was created by other earlier scripters.).

Currently all scripts included in OPQ and Chin Rey builds are original creations by us. We do not have any plans to use scripts by others for our products but we may do so in the future.

Animations and Sounds

We do not make any of those ourselves at the moment. We may in the future.
